Mindfully Unplugging: Exploring our Relationship (Addiction) to Technology

Tuesdays, 7:45 – 9 pm, July 9 through Aug. 6; except July 23
$100
Unplugged
Finding yourself annoyed or frustrated with your screen time usage?

In this 4-week workshop with Kim Alexandrescu, Owner and Founder of Sacred Space Astoria, we’ll use a variety of tools to explore our relationship to tech usage:

-mindfulness + body awareness
-attunement to the self
-group discussion
-trial of new habits
-journal prompts
-community building + support

In this group setting, we’ll discuss when we find phone usage helpful and when it is a distraction. As many of us, are using tech for an extensive length of time, we’ll observe how the body feels before and after usage while identifying what needs we may be seeking when we use social media or tech for communication and connection.

The intention of this workshop series is to bring awareness to phone and tech usage, reduce mindless and habitual scrolling and encourage more human-to-human engagement.

Class will run 7:45-9PM, a common time for mindless scrolling, as an effort to break habitual usage and be in community with others who are seeking less screen time. We recommend dressing in loose, light layers for this class, as your body temperature may drop with relaxation.

This 4-week series will meet on Tuesday evenings from July 9th to August 6th (please note, there is no class on July 23rd).

Cost: $100
