Johnny O’neal Trio

Johnny O’Neal is a distinguished American jazz pianist and vocalist, celebrated for his virtuosic technique, soulful interpretations, and deep roots in the jazz tradition. Born on October 10, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, he was immersed in music from an early age, influenced by his father, a jazz pianist and singer, and the rich musical environment of Detroit
In 1981, O’Neal relocated to New York City to perform with Clark Terry and secured a regular gig at the Blue Note, accompanying jazz greats such as Dizzy Gillespie, Ray Brown, Nancy Wilson, Joe Pass, and Kenny Burrell. From 1982 to 1983, he was a member of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers and made his Carnegie Hall debut in 1985 .
In 1997, O’Neal was inducted into the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, recognizing his significant contributions to the jazz community . He continues to perform internationally, captivating audiences with his dynamic performances and preserving the rich legacy of jazz music.
