About Immigranet:
Immigranet will premiere a four-part suite, The Elements, inspired by the classical elements—Water, Earth, Air, and Fire—while reflecting the diverse cultural and musical perspectives of its members. Each movement interprets one element through the lens of global music traditions and modern jazz, shaped by the distinct musical voice of each composer. This new work and its performance have been supported by the Queens Art Fund of the New York Foundation for the Arts.
Immigranet is a collaborative composers’ collective featuring some of the most dynamic young voices in jazz today—Italian saxophonist Nicola Caminiti, Venezuelan vibraphonist Juan Diego Villalobos, New Zealand bassist Hamish Smith, and South Korean drummer Jongkuk Kim. The project showcases the group’s unique approach to composition, blending cultural influences and collective improvisation into a cohesive yet richly diverse work.
The performance will last approximately 60 minutes, followed by a post-concert discussion in which Immigranet will share insights into the meaning behind the suite and invite audience questions about their influences.
