Chinese Kunqu Opera Performance for Yuanxiao Lantern Festival 昆曲閙元宵

Kunqu Opera is one of the oldest forms of Chinese opera still being performed today, combining music, dance, drama, and stunning costumes. It has been designated by the United Nations as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

On February 16th, New York Kunqu Society will present selected highlight pieces of classical Kunqu opera works to Queens Botanical Garden. We welcome you and your loved ones to come and celebrate Yuanxiao, the end of the Lunar New Year period, and experience this captivating artform.

Chinese and English subtitles will be provided.

Make a day of Yuanxiao! As well as this performance, New York Hanfu Society will provide activites all afternoon including a Hanfu photo booth and lantern riddles. Pre-register here, walk-ins welcome with availability.
