BHS Members Night: Geology of Long Island/Queens

The Bayside Historical Society invites all our valued members for a fun evening of connection and discovery at our upcoming meet & greet event. Members are encouraged to bring friends and family to join in the festivities! This is a wonderful opportunity to share the experience of this community and introduce others to the exciting work done at Bayside Historical Society.
The event will feature a special presentation by guest speaker Namshik Yoon, a retired NYC Chief of Operations, Urban Park Ranger, and Earth Science Teacher. He will discuss local soil ecosystems, including the origin of Long Island soil and its environmental impact on plant life and agriculture. Additionally, attendees will have access to The Castle’s Archaeology Room, showcasing artifacts up to 6,500 years old, typically reserved for educational programs. It’s a unique opportunity to delve into the region’s rich history!
Engage in conversations and make new friends at this event designed for anyone who loves history and getting involved in the community.
