Come celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the African diaspora by the sea at the 2025 Afro-Diasporic Ocean Festival in Rockaway Beach, Queens. This year’s festival honors International Afro-Descendant Women’s Day, spotlighting the voices, rhythms, and leadership of Black women across the globe.
The festival will feature a Capoeira Angola workshop and roda with samba led by Quilombo do Acupe, a dynamic women’s panel discussion hosted by the afrolatin@ forum, and live performances by special guests including Koku Gonza, a Tanzanian-American Afro-soul artist blending Afrobeat, R&B, and highlife.
Enjoy on-site vendors offering Afro-Diasporic food, handmade crafts, art, and more—plus interactive family-friendly activities throughout the day.
Bring your family, your beach towel, and your dancing shoes for a joyful day of Afro-Diasporic connection, rhythm, and resistance.
