Our Family Pet First Aid course is designed to provide pet owners and caregivers with the knowledge and skills needed to respond to common medical emergencies and injuries in pets. Just like humans, pets can face accidents, illnesses, and injuries that require immediate attention, and this course equips participants with the ability to provide prompt and effective first aid for their beloved animals.
4-Hour Pet First Aid Course Overview
This course provides essential skills and knowledge to help pets in emergencies.
- Introduction – Define pet first aid, emergency preparedness, and course objectives. (No skills test)
- Preventing Emergencies – Learn common mistakes, behavior training, and early warning signs. (No skills test)
- Personal Safety & Animal Handling – Understand body language, restraint, and safe transport techniques. (Skills test included)
- Vital Signs – Identify normal vital signs, pulse points, and capillary refill time. (Skills test included)
- Responding to Emergencies – Learn emergency response, common pet emergencies, shock care, bleeding control, CPR, and choking intervention. (Skills test included)
- Travel & Outdoor Safety – Plan pet-friendly trips, proper ID use, and safety tips for travel and outdoor adventures. (No skills test)
- Disaster Action Plans – Prepare for disasters, understand local risks, and create a pet emergency kit. (No skills test)
Final Exam: 20-question test; 80% required to pass.
