The Gloden Age is the solo exhibition by Taiwanese artist Shih-Pao Lin, who is based in Queens and Brooklyn area. Lin has been creating massive art projects with items donated by local people around the United States, Taiwan, and Japan. This time, after 5 years of crafting, Lin is finally showcasing his sculpture series “MetroCard Chinese Zodiac Series” at Flushing Town Hall in December 2022, which are 12 animal sculptures mainly made with 30,000 used MetroCard in New York City.

Lin describes these animal friends are “ancient Asian creations wearing contemporary products.” These sculptures used to be shown separately, but at the end of this year, they are finally coming together.

While New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced that MetroCard will be phased out starting in 2023, this series has become a commemorative project of it. Besides these animal sculptures, 25 mixed-media paintings that are based on the theme of Cherry Blossom, praying for peace in a brand new year, will be shown at The Golden Age exhibition as well.

please join us on the 17th, to celebrate the solidarity of the community in Flushing, as a part of the great New York City.
